This course delves into the symbiotic relationship between art therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) techniques and how their integration aligns with the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model. Participants will gain insights into the foundations of this integration and its practical application in clinical settings. Through an interactive workshop, participants will explore diverse art-based interventions and case studies, equipping them with the skills to implement these techniques across the phases of therapy. By the course's conclusion, participants will walk away with six versatile exercises to integrate into their practice, fostering client-centered healing experiences for individuals of all ages

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will be able to describe the key considerations of how EMDR and the creative arts overlap and how together they can decrease dissociation.
  • Develop proficiency in implementing art-based interventions within the context of EMDR therapy, through exploration of practical techniques and case studies, equipping participants with the skills needed to effectively utilize these modalities in clinical settings.
  • Curate a diverse repertoire of 4 distinct art-based exercises suitable for clients of all ages and backgrounds, ensuring participants can readily apply learned principles to their clinical practice, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy and promoting client-centered healing experiences
